Having trouble with the app or have a question? We are here to help.
How do I import a script? Tap the + button on the Script Library screen. You can paste text directly, capture photos of physical pages, or upload a PDF. Klieg extracts characters and dialogue automatically. For photos, the app uses on-device text recognition, so quality depends on lighting and focus — flat, well-lit pages give the best results.
How do I rehearse a scene? Open a script and pick your character. Tap Rehearse. Klieg reads the other characters out loud and listens while you say your lines. When you finish a line, the next character automatically takes their turn. Take as long as you need between lines — there is no timeout.
What do "line" and "next" do? While rehearsing, say "line" to get a prompt of the next one or two words when you are stuck. Say "next" to skip ahead to the next line. Both commands check whether the word fits your dialogue at that moment, so saying "draw the line" or "next morning" as part of an actual line will not trigger them.
Can I rehearse with another actor? Yes — use Scene Practice mode. Both actors share one phone. Klieg shows the script as a teleprompter and listens for the next expected line regardless of who speaks it. No setup, no taps between turns.
What is Hear mode? A passive listen-through. The whole script reads aloud — every character, every narrated stage direction. Useful for learning a piece in the car, on a walk, or before bed.
How does the free tier work? Your first two scripts are free, forever, with full access to every rehearsal mode. Klieg Premium unlocks unlimited script imports, with a monthly plan or a yearly plan that includes a 7-day free trial.
How do I manage or cancel my subscription? Subscriptions are managed through your Apple ID. Go to Settings → your name → Subscriptions on your iPhone to view, change, or cancel your Klieg Premium subscription.
Klieg parsed my script incorrectly. What can I do? Re-importing usually helps, especially if the original came from a photo. For photos, make sure the page is flat, well-lit, and the camera is square to the page. PDFs with selectable text parse most reliably; scanned PDFs depend on the scan quality. You can also paste the text directly from a clean source if you have one.
The microphone isn't picking me up. What should I check? First, make sure you granted microphone and speech recognition permissions when prompted. You can verify in Settings → Klieg → Microphone and Settings → Klieg → Speech Recognition on your iPhone. If permissions are on but the app still does not respond, try restarting the rehearsal session, and check that another app is not currently using the microphone.
Do I need an account? No. Klieg does not have accounts or sign-in. Your scripts, notes, and rehearsal progress are stored on your device. There is nothing to delete on our end.
